Scapple App Reviews

great studying outline tool

It is one of the most amazing yet simple apps I have used, it helped me a lot organizing my thoughts and making simple charts out of very complicated subjects. I recommend it for students for outlining chapters and last minutes quick revisions. It is expensive somewhat, but it will give you the value you paid for.

Terrible software!

Its amazing to think that some people call this intuitive. Atrociuos interface! Dont let the nice color and background fool you. Avoid!!!

Every Writer’s Bestie

If you ask me, this is the app that every writer needs. It is easy to use, and the minimum features are easy to use. It’s worth every penny, and it’s incredibly versatile. So far I’ve only used it for mapping out stories, but I love it to the point that I wish I had other excuses to use it. If you’re on the fence about buying it, just do it!

no iPad or iPhone version for any of these programs

Literature & Latte don’t have and will never produce version of their apps for iphone or iPad (eventhough the apps are predestinated for these kind of devices) and are therefore a poor choice. Both apps - scrivener and scrapple - are made to be creative, to take notes, jump into your work whenever (and wherever) you feel creative. But this is exactly the possibility that they are not offering. You have to go back home and open your computer and when you get there all the creativity is usually gone anyway ;) I wouldn’t recommend scrivener or scrapple because of that. There are plenty of other apps that you can use on your phone and iPad - when and whereever you are, that you can synchronize and open and edit on all devices.

Can you fix iCloud bug ok?

I use 15$ buy it . But 2 years have not been updated to fix bug. i hate it. I’m very regret bought this Software. Fix it ok?

The best productivity app

I use Scapple for over 3 years to dump everything from my mind. I have dozens of Scapple boards: complex connected todo lists, project concepts, UX drafts, technical tech sheets, game designs, etc. I tried many apps before, even local wiki but Scapple is absolutely the best. Its the central hub of my digital life. Thank you a lot and best of luck in 2017!

Intuitive and Well Crafted

Exactly what I was looking for : let the thoughts flow and ( visually ) freely arrange clusters as well as compose connections. KISS as its best.

Good with potential for improvements

I am new to mind mapping. Scapple I find convincing because of its flexibility and simplicity. The user interface could be better and more to the international standard: Zooming for instance is a bet of a pain if you cant even use your wheel or +/-. Or Editing the connections without deleting the note should be possible as well.

Best idea structuring tool ever!

This is simply the best tool to collect and structure your ideas - far better than any mind mapping tool since these are not as flexible and easy to use as Scapple. Scapple is a clear must-have for creative people!

the best

I really love this one! It would be even greater with iOS-Versions and Syncing! Please create those too and don’t take so long like Scrivener for iOS ;)

Best Visual Organizer (mind mapping)

Ive been looking for a long time for a mind map style application that allows total control. Scapple is a dream come true. Quick review of online video and I was busy organizing my life. Thank you for a terrific program!

Yes!

Simple. Spectacularly useful. I have used other mind-mapping and diagram software. Nearly three decades using a computer and this is what I have been waiting for: a program that helps you think textually and visually without getting in the way.

Great!!

This is a great software…easy, fast, flexible and efficient. It would be great if we can change the shapes of the linking arrows!! Kudos to the developers...

Great at what it does, but longing for a bit more

Itd be great to add the connected-with-arrow system to the inspector. The ability to group a series of notes so that you could move 50+ nodes by moving a single node in its group would be nice too. These maps can get very big, working from a laptop, such a feature would be really appreciated. These things written, its a really simple software that works well to map ideas very quickly.

Very Simple & Easy App

Downloaded and started using right away. Very simple and easy, got out of my way so I could focus on developing my ideas. Highly recommended.

Good app, one feature request.

Good application, I like the use of all the hot keys makes things much easier to use. I also like how light weight it is, very minimalistic. 1 Feature requests: - I am an engineering student and I would like some support for math input that is not MathType. Preferably something related to Latex/Tex/MathJax built right into hte application. There is an application (Mou - Markdown editor) that does this very well, they use $$<TEX string>$$ to denote mathjax/Tex input. Something similar built into notes for this would be nice :) Awesome app though, I look forward to feature releases.

Extremely Useful

This is a very useful and easy to use product. I work as a freelance technical writer and I have used this tool with my clients to develop outlines, diagram work flows, and to capture ideas and put them into a framework. It is hard to appreciate how useful this software is until you use it. It also integrates really well with the companion product Scrivener. This is not a replacement for business graphics software that one would use for flowcharts and the like and that is a good thing because its focus, instead, is on simplicity and effectiveness.

Just what I have been looking for

I’ve tested too many mind mapping softwares out there. This is by far the best at a tiny fraction of the price. It’s simple and clean to use. Will gladly recommend this tool.

A little misleading...

So basically, I paid $15 for something that OneNote does. I was really disappointed when I found out that there isnt an option to change the design to the chalkboard theme in their logo, or even the paper theme in the first picture that clearly says SCAPPLE on it. Very, very misleading - the whole reason I downloaded this was to feel like I was writing on a piece of paper or a chalkboard, and part of how I can feel that way is the design... Anyways, just a warning to anyone else who wants to download this. Its a fabulous concept and works great, but I gave it one star for how it was misleading.

Essential for abstract thinkers

I use Scapple to brainstorm all of my academic writing projects because it allows me to quickly work out the big picture. After working with various mind mapping and outlining applications, I’ve decided to use Scapple. This is because Scapple is especially useful for abstract thinkers—people who have lots of ideas that need to be captured before being organized. While other apps usually encourage you to attach each note to a single central “node,” Scapple encourages numerous smaller hierarchies of notes , which may or may not connect with one another. As your ideas develop, you can add, substract, connect, disconnect, edit, and rearrange notes, which is exactly what you need as you work through abstract ideas. On a side note, I advise embracing Scapple’s minimalist interface. Scapple gives you everything you need to develop your ideas without being distracted. (However, if you simply must have the chalkboard look, the look can be created by using a “chalk” font (not included) and a solid green background with white text.)
